When Clonmel Chamber of Commerce decided to combat the recession in the retail sector, its response was to collaborate with KOH Creative to develop a brand for the town’s overall retail offering. The resulting “Brand Clonmel” was launched in October 2009 amid huge media interest and looks set to become a blueprint for towns who wish to redefine themselves. We worked hand in hand with Eddie Shanahan, a style and retail consultant, who came to Clonmel to talk to the Chamber of Commerce about how to create a strong identity and how to keep the town attractive to visitors.
The Brand Clonmel Umbrella launched with fanfare and staged its first event with the ‘Style Clonmel Festival.’ The festival saw some of the top names in Irish fashion and beauty bring their stylings to the town, for three glitzy events that also raised money for local charities.
The Brand Clonmel symbol, which is an image of a colourful tree, symbolises life, growth and heritage. Each leaf represents the variety of choice available in the vibrant town, which is also emphasised by the use of unique colours. The logo is versatile and also conveniently adaptable for various events associated with Brand Clonmel e.g. Style Clonmel Festival.
The Style Clonmel Festival logo is adapted from The Brand Clonmel symbol, The use of unique and bold colours represented the style and flair that came to the town for the festival.
